The Big App Fund

Throughout September 2014 we received an outstanding 425 app entries into the Big App competition from entrepreneurs in 27 countries across Europe.

The Facebook backed competition was judged by a panel of app experts including two senior Facebook executives, the youngest person ever to achieve 1 million app downloads via the AppStore and the author of ‘How to Build a Billion Dollar App’.Our panel of judges met the top 50 finalists for a day of speed interviews at Facebook London HQ. The Top 10 then attended a grand final where they pitched their app businesses to our team.

After due diligence, two out of the three winners received a share of £200,000 of seed investment raised via 321 individuals on the Seedrs crowdfunding platform.

The Retail Foundation Fund

In January 2014, we launched our first fund with Metro to find the UK’s best new retail entrepreneurs and it was a huge success.

We raised £300k in 4 days from 259 investors in 11 countries via the Seedrs community, which was £100k more than our initial target. Overall, we received 983 entries from retail businesses all over the UK, which we whittled down to the best 10 who were invited to pitch to an expert panel in London. The judging panel included Founder of Mind Candy, Michael Action-Smith OBE and Seedrs Co-Founder, Jeff Lynn.
